In a bid to boost tourism revenue, Thailand is eyeing big fat Indian destination weddings. Thailand is banking on wealthy Indians flying to Thailand on their charter planes, and staying in 5-star hotels for their larger than life weddings. 40 Percent Of Indian Weddings In Thailand Of Overseas Families

A senior tourism official revealed to The Star that Thailand hopes to boost tourism revenue between 600 billion-700 billion baht (US$16 billion-$19 billion) by targeting Indian weddings and honeymooners. Thailand is known for its stunning blue beaches, thriving nightlife and adventure activities. The perfect ingredients for a great destination wedding. While 60 per cent of their Indian destination weddings were of residents of India, the remaining were from overseas Indian families.

Thailand Expects To Host 400 Indian Weddings In 2022

So, wedding planners from Mumbai and New Delhi are collaborating with Thai tourism representatives to offer Thailand Indian wedding packages.  In 2022, the beach destination expects to host 400 Indian weddings and a total of 500,000 Indian tourists. Ratchitar Thanakulphandilok, a wedding planner in Thailand revealed to Nikkei Asia, that the country has a strong reputation for hospitality, beautiful flower decoration and delicious food.
