If you are someone who constantly keeps up with the news, then you are no stranger to the fact that the Nagpur-Mumbai Samridhi Expressway is nearly complete. With the promise of slashing travel time to just eight hours, it is expected that the 76 km stretch of the 701 km long Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway is expected to soon be open for traffic by mid-March. Here’s more on this.
Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway To Open In Mid-March?
The Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway is a 701 km-long highway that hardly needs any introduction. A key project which was initiated by Devendra Fadnavis, the remaining 76 km of the stretch is now complete. As it happens, it is expected that this stretch of the expressway will also become functional by mid-March. This means that the motorists will be able to access the entire expressway. At this point, it should be noted that motorists can only access the expressway from Igatpuri near Nashik to Nagpur, which is a drive of 625 km.
The MSRDC involved 16 construction firms in the project. For this purpose, the expressway, which was announced back in 2015, now expects the pending work to be completed by March 10. In fact, the construction of the final stretch is complete and only the connecting road to the expressway remains. This is being built on behalf of the National Highway Authority of India as mentioned by Free Press Journal.
The Expressway Was Earlier set to Open In Nov-Dec 2024
It should be noted that once the expressway becomes functional, it will reduce travel time from Mumbai to Nagpur to just eight hours. Earlier it would take 16 hours. Moreover, it also aims to enhance connectivity between JNPT in Mumbai and Nagpur-Multimodal International Airport as revealed in a report by Money Control.
Finally, this long-awaited opening, which is expected to take place in mid-March is something that people have been waiting for with baited breath. The expressway was partially opened in December 2022, and March 2023, and it was expected that the last leg of the project would also become functional in November-December 2024.
Now, the pending work is also going to be finished, and it’s bound to make travelling easier for people between the two cities.
