These 3 Indian Restaurants Are On Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants List

Indian cuisine has long been celebrated around the world for its bold flavours and rich aromas and the Indian restaurants at Asia’s 50 Best showcase some of the finest examples of this cuisine.

The 11th edition of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants includes three restaurants from India making it up to the prestigious list. Here are the three restaurants featured:

1. Masque, Mumbai

Mumbai’s fine dining restaurant Masque rose from #21 last year to #16 in 2023, becoming the best restaurant in the country to top the list. Founded in 2016 by Aditi Dugar and led by head Chef Varun Totlani, Masque has gained a reputation for its innovative approach to Indian cuisine, incorporating traditional Indian ingredients and flavours into contemporary dishes that are presented with a modern, artistic flair.

The restaurant’s interior is sleek and modern, with clean lines and a minimalist design that lets the food take centre stage. The open kitchen allows diners to watch as the chefs prepare each dish with precision and care.

2. Avartana, Chennai

The new entrant from India this year is Avartana at ITC Grand Chola in Chennai at #30 and winning the Highest New Entry Award. It is known for its contemporary take on traditional South Indian cuisine led by Chef Nikhil Nagpal. The menu at Avartana showcases the best of South Indian cuisine, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and classic flavours that have been reimagined in new and exciting ways. Dishes are beautifully presented, with a focus on highlighting the colours, textures, and aromas of each ingredient.

3. Indian Accent, New Delhi

New Delhi’s Indian Accent rose from #22 last year to #19 this year. This Indian restaurant on Asia’s 50-best is a  sophisticated restaurant that combines traditional Indian ingredients with global cooking techniques. The restaurant’s elegant decor and attentive service make for a truly memorable dining experience. The unique combination of traditional Indian ingredients and global culinary techniques makes it a must-visit for anyone interested in experiencing the best of modern Indian dining.

Led by Chef Manish Mehrotra, Indian Accent has also opened locations in London and New York City, where it has received similarly high praise and recognition.
