Onion is a basic ingredient in most of the dishes in India, an obvious bystander and easily available side dish.  But in case the onion prize shoots up all of a sudden or you need to avoid onion for a ritual, be assured there are some amazing dishes that are made without this vegetable. Here are some mouth-watering foods you don’t need onion for.

1. Papdi Chaat

Dilli’s favourite street food never relied on onions and never will. It’s strong, independent and delicious. Crispy papdi, tangy aloo masala, spicy green chutney and sweet red chutney are all flavours that magically blend perfectly well on just one plate. Then comes the soothing calming dahi poured all over so that all these elements can be moulded into one big plate of love. 2. Ram Laddu

Fried balls of dal pakode topped with mooli and green chutney is the simplest and most brilliant way to show your ex you’re moving on. Who needs onions, they don’t even go with pakode. Everybody knows India loves pakode and Delhi has the most iconic pakode place. Even Our iconic Bangla Sahib Gurudwara was not successful in overshadowing this Delhi gem. Delhi’s most iconic state canteen Sarvana Bhavan serves their idlis, dosa, vada and sambar in an onion free food avatar. This place is super pocket-friendly and the best in town for south Indian. All you have to do is ask your server to get your order without onions. When you’re there opt for a ghee dosa instead of a normal one for maximum indulgence, so you feel like your ex doesn’t even exist.
