Indian Football Captain Sunil Chhetri recently met our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, for an exciting episode of the Sunday Brunch. He is the third-highest football goal scorer in the world and we were delighted to have him on the show. We had a hearty Sunday Brunch with him and talked about everything starting from football, food, childhood memories and more. He prefers mountains rather than beaches. Sunil Chhetri Loves To Visit These Hill Stations In India
While playing a fun game, we wanted to know if he was a mountain person or a beach person. Sunil Chhetri told us that he was a mountain person but his wife, Sonam Bhattacharya, absolutely doesn’t like the mountains and prefers beaches. We are sure you, too, have disagreements with your partner about what your next travel destination for vacation is going to be. At least, they get to enjoy both places one by one and that is what truly matters.
We further asked Sunil Chhetri which were his favourite getaway mountain destinations in India. He told us that his family loves Coorg and Ooty. It’s not a mountain but it gives you that chilly sensation.” He went on to say that there are jungles, Bandipur and Kabini, which are close by and make for a perfect getaway for Sunil and his family. Seems like he prefers to enjoy some cold and chilly weather over sunny and sandy places.

He Enlightened Us With His Cute Love Story And We Just Went Aww!
We didn’t know that we needed his love story with his longtime girlfriend-turned-wife, Sonam Bhattacharya. We were slightly on the topic of football and his family’s connection to football when Kamiya said that he even went on to marry his football coach’s daughter. Sunil Chhetri immediately said, “Do not try this at home!” and we couldn’t help but laugh out loud. He then went on to cutely blame his wife for this situation.
It was Sonam who stole Sunil’s number from her father’s mobile phone and messaged him. We made sure that he was telling the truth. He told us, “That’s how we met and that’s how it started.” It’s great to know Sonam took things into her own hands and acted swiftly.
Years later, they have been happily married and have been blessed with a beautiful boy. It’s all about taking chances, just as the popular saying goes “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”; both in life and in football.
