A gurudwara in Chandigarh baked a humongous 553 kg cake to celebrate the 553rd birth anniversary of the first guru of Sikhism, Guru Nanak. For the Sikhs, Guru Nanak Jayanti is an important celebration, and the Chandigarh gurudwara commemorated it in the most beautiful way. It distributed the cake among the people as langar.

A video of the jumbo cake was uploaded on the Instagram page ‘1000 Things In Ludhiana’.

The Gurudwara Baked The Cake On The 553rd Birth Anniversary Of Guru Nanak

In the video, we see the 6-tier cake stretched across tables joined together. The pink and white cake, dotted with cherries, looks grand and mesmerising. On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, devotees offer seva at nearby gurudwaras. The gurudwaras offer kada prasad to the visitors. They serve langar to anyone and everyone, irrespective of caste, religion and economic status. The cake video on Instagram has garnered over 12.2K likes and 72 comments. Commenting on the video, devotees wrote, “Waheguru Ji”.

Many Devotees Visited Sri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara Near The Indo-Pak Border

As per reports, around 433 Indian devotees also visited Sri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan, near the India-Pakistan border. Interestingly, to visit this gurudwara in Pakistan’s Punjab province, one can cross the zero line without a visa. It said that Guru Nanak founded Kartarpur town in 1515. And he lived in Kartarpur for 18 long years until he breathed his last on September 22, 1539. Thus, Sri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara is an important pilgrimage site for Sikhs.

The 553rd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated on November 8, 2022.
