Prayagraj Pandal With A Unique Decor

This Durga puja pandal in Prayagraj by Darbhanga Barwari is attracting many visitors because it has used a very unique way of decorating the place. The whole decoration has been done using jute plants, wooden ice-cream sticks, and spoons. Debobroto Basu, Barwari’s general secretary, said that the design has been inspired by the Mandapa style of Indian architecture. He explained that this style was used especially in the making of temples in South India. If you walk inside the pandal you will also find pictures of the beautiful pandals which were built in previous years.

Pandal Follows Dravidian Style

The beautiful pandal also has a gopuram which means a huge entrance tower that is placed just at the center. It also has a Garbhagriha which is the central part of the temple and the place where the main deity is placed.  The idols of Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Lakhsmi, Lord Kartikeya, and demon Bhasmasura have also been given a different look. From their jewellery to attire, they have been given a Rajasthani look. The pandal designs have been inspired by the Dravidian architectural designs used by the Pallava, Chola, Vijayanagara, and Nayaka regimes in temples like the Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, the Kailasanathar Temple in Kanchipuram, the Brihadisvara Temple in Thanjavur, and the Vijayanagara Temple in Hampi.
