This Is How Superstar Suriya Likes To Enjoy His Pani Puri

On this recent episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, was in conversation with superstar Suriya at our Bandra restaurant, Imlee by Curly Tales and Neeti Goel. Having released superhits like ‘Jai Bhim’, ‘Soorarai Pottru’, ‘Kaappaan’ and more, he sets the big screens on fire with his latest epic fantasy action film, ‘Kanguva’. In this episode, we talked about his film journey, family, food and more while eating flavoursome Bambaiya street food. Kamiya even made pani puri for the actor!

Suriya Enjoys His Pani Puri This Way

A dish with many names like puchka, pani puri, gol gappe, pani bathe, and more, this street food evokes the same emotion! This appetising snack with fillings of ragda, aloo, chana, meethi and teekhi chutney is incomparable. Even actor Suriya couldn’t resist its allure at our restaurant.

Kamiya stepped behind the pani puri booth and became the server for the day. Anything for Suriya! We discovered that he’d never tried the authentic Bambaiya pani puri before, so this was going to be exciting!

Kamiya even received some customisations for pani puri as the star enjoys sweeter flavours rather than spicy ones. Suriya asked Kamiya to make the pani puri “60% sweet, 40% spicy.”

He was so surprised at how good the ragda pani puri was that he ordered more! This time, he wanted it to be a bit more spicy. It is safe to say that he loved our Bambaiya Pani Puri!

As a Tamilian, Suriya was unaware of an unwritten rule of pani puri – the sukha puri! Kamiya taught him that sukha puri is a must-have at the end of a pani puri session. By hook or by crook, you have to get one from your pani puri vendor. Even if you are full, you should never skip this last puri.

We were slowly turning Suriya into a Mumbaikar!
