The official announcement of ADS status came to fruition through a signing ceremony held in Beijing. Dignitaries in attendance included Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Harbi, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to China, Fahd Hamidaddin, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Tourism Authority, and Du Jiang, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China.

This bilateral agreement permits Chinese citizens to embark on group tours to Saudi Arabia, streamlining access to the Kingdom. It signifies a momentous achievement for Saudi Arabia, fostering greater connectivity between the Kingdom and China while unlocking fresh possibilities within the tourism ecosystem.

The attainment of ADS status will significantly enhance inbound travel from China. It paves the way for Saudi Arabia to work towards its goal of attracting 3 million Chinese tourists by 2030. This achievement is the culmination of sustained bilateral efforts. It includes the success of the Arab-China Business Conference and the Saudi-China Roadshow earlier in the year.

Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Minister, Ahmed Al-Khateeb, underscored the significance of this development. He characterised it as a testament to enduring and historic bilateral relations founded on shared vision and common interests. He emphasized that China has designed its extensive connectivity vision to foster economic prosperity. It will secure a brighter future for future generations.

Du Jiang, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, expressed his delight in signing the ADS agreement with Saudi Arabia. He highlighted the deep appreciation both nations hold for each other’s rich and diverse cultures, reaffirming their commitment to nurturing mutual understanding and respect.
