Indians travelling from UAE to India now have a chance to skip quarantine. Travellers can apply for can apply for exemption from institutional quarantine by submitting a negative PCR test on arrival. The new rule will come into effect from 8 August. The new rule is part of the Health Ministry’s guidelines for international passengers arriving in India. Test Before 96 Hours

As per the new guidelines, travellers seeking an exemption from quarantine must get tested 96 hours prior to departure. The test report must then be uploaded in a portal to be reviewed by authorities. The passengers applying for exemption must also submit a declaration that the report is valid and authentic. Individuals will be liable for criminal prosecution if the reports are found otherwise. Additionally, the report can also be submitted upon arrival in India.

Compulsory 14-Day Quarantine

Travellers who don’t apply for the exempt must undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine. This is split into seven days of paid institutional quarantine at their own cost, followed by seven days’ isolation at home. Home quarantine will be permitted only under unavoidable reasons like pregnancy, death in family, parents with children aged ten or less. Such travellers must apply on the portal 72 hours prior to departure. The government will then decide weather or not to grant permission.

Prior To Boarding

Prior to boarding passengers will be provided their tickets along with a list of rules to be followed. Only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to travel. During Travel

Upon Arrival

Upon arrival all travellers must undergo thermal screening. Those exhibiting Covid-like symptoms will be taken to isolation centers. Those exempted from institutional quarantine must submit the decision by the authorities, before being permitted to quarantine at home. All other passengers will be taken to institutional quarantine facilities, for a minimum seven days. If they test positive, they will be directed to proper medical care.
