In India, we’ve seen how high-speed train services are bringing change. Journeys that once took overnight have now been reduced by 4 to 5 hours. Travelling from Hyderabad to Chennai is also often tiring. But that may soon change with the Hyderabad-Chennai bullet train. Read on to know more!

Indian Railways Plans Hyderabad–Chennai Bullet Train 

One of the most talked-about projects in Indian Railways right now is the bullet train service. The Indian Railways is planning to run bullet trains from Hyderabad, connecting it to several South Indian cities. According to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the proposed corridors may turn Hyderabad into an important high-speed rail hub.

Right now, planning for a bullet train from Hyderabad to Chennai is under discussion. At present, this journey takes over 12 hours by train. NDTV reported that with the proposed bullet train project, travel time could be reduced to around 2 hours and 55 minutes.

Bullet Trains On Other Routes From Hyderabad

Apart from the bullet train on the Hyderabad–Chennai route, other projects are also in progress. As per NDTV, Indian Railways is also planning a bullet train from Hyderabad to Bengaluru. The journey that currently takes over 8 hours, and even longer by road, could be reduced to around 2 hours and 8 minutes with the bullet train.

Another proposed route is Hyderabad to Pune. At present, this train journey takes around 8 hours and 30 minutes. The bullet train could reduce it to just 1 hour and 55 minutes. The central government is planning a major investment of nearly ₹16 lakh crore to expand bullet train infrastructure across the country. As per officials, land acquisition for these corridors is expected to begin soon, followed by phased construction over the coming years.
