South Delhi To Gurgaon In 5 Minutes? Delhi Govt Approves 4-Km Signal-Free Flyover

In a move to improve connectivity between South Delhi and Gurgaon, the Delhi government granted approval for the construction of a 4-km-long signal-free flyover along SSN Marg on Tuesday. Read on to know more.

South-Delhi To Gurgaon In Just 5 Minutes

As per a report by the Indian Express, the corridor is one of South Delhi’s busiest routes and at present faces severe congestion due to a traffic jam at Anuvrat Marg. Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh told the portal on Tuesday that vehicles often get stuck at signals, leading to long queues and heavy traffic. He also stated that the traffic was especially heavy during the wedding season. Congestion and higher traffic from nearby farmhouses in Chattarpur further complicate the situation.

The planned flyover will stretch from the Anuvrat Marg intersection to DLF Farms in Chattarpur and is planned to significantly improve traffic movement. The officials said the current 4 km journey can take up to 35 minutes during peak hours, with vehicle speeds reduced below 10 km/h. Once finished, the route is expected to reduce travel time to just five minutes and increase average speeds to 50 kmph.

The ₹700-Crore Project Aims To Divert Traffic

If reports are to be believed, the ₹700-crore project is intended to ease congestion by diverting through traffic onto the flyover, while regular traffic will continue to use the surface roads. As per the officials, the project is estimated to save around 12.3 minutes per trip.

The project also aims to improve traffic flow, ease pressure at major roads, enhance connectivity between NH-148A and nearby residential areas, and cater to higher traffic demand in South Delhi. The feasibility study and detailed project report (DPR) have currently been completed, and proposals are expected to be floated soon. Construction is likely to begin once the contract is awarded, with the project expected to be completed within two years.

Well, it’s good news for Delhi people.
