Tripura Becomes India’s 3rd Coronavirus Free State After Goa And Manipur

Amazing news comes from our Incredible India! After Goa won the race to battle out coronavirus from its shores, there has been another state from the Seven Sisters, after Manipur, that has won the battle against coronavirus for now and boy, are we glad! Tripura has been declared coronavirus free after the second patient tested negative in the state. The Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb took to Twitter to make this great announcement.

What’s In It?

Tripura has joined the league of Indian states that are free from coronavirus. Recently, Goa, Manipur, Kargil, Pulwama, and 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh were declared COVID-free by the government authorities. Now, Tripura’s Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb has announced that there is no coronavirus patient in the state anymore after its second patient tested negative. However, the CM has also requested people to observe social distancing and follow the mandates laid down by the Indian government. Tripura’s first Coronavirus patient was a woman hailing from Udaipur town in Gomati district. She had returned from Guwahati before the lockdown and tested positive for COVID-19 infection on April 6.

A Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawan also tested positive for COVID-19 in Damcherra in North Tripura on April 16. He was then admitted at GB Pant Hospital and he tested negative for the virus on April 23. Ratan Lal Nath, State Education Minister and Cabinet Spokesperson informed at a press conference that this patient would have to undergo another test. He will be released if the report turns out to be negative.

Tripura now has 111 Coronavirus unconfirmed cases under surveillance, 227 patients are spending their time under home quarantine for recovery. Goa is the first green state in India with no COVID-19 positive case reported since April 3. Yet, Ports Minister of Goa, Michael Lobo, stated that no tourism activity will be permitted to resume in the state until Coronavirus is wiped off from the entire country. Pulwama, Kargil and 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh have also acquired the green tag.
