The UAE is still on UK’s red list, but the UK has now announced a new rule for international arrivals. Starting 19 July, tourists and residents arriving from amber list countries need not undergo a ten-day quarantine. Earlier, this decision was set to be implemented in August, as the UK needed more time to prepare. Well, however this new rule will now make summer travel to the UK easier.
As of now, countries on the UK’s amber list require a 10-day quarantine upon arrival in the U.K. In addition, tourists and residents must take a PCR test before arrival and two tests on day two and eight after arrival. People can also opt to ‘test out’ after day five with a negative test. However, the rules will now change from 19 July.

What Are The Rules For Travellers From UK’s Amber List Countries?
Vaccinated travellers can now travel between the U.K. and amber list countries without undergoing quarantine. All vaccinated travellers must have taken their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine at least 14 days before departure. The new decision now opens up over 140 countries Britishers can travel to over the summer.
Those coming into the UK from amber list countries must take a negative PCR test before departure and they would need to take another test on Day 2 of arrival in the UK.
Children under 18, if traveling with vaccinated adults, will also be exempt from quarantine. However, children over the age of 5 and under 10 must take PCR tests on day two in the U.K. Children aged between 11-18 will need to also take a pre-departure test and another one on day two.

Who Are Exempt From The Quarantine?
There’s a big catch here! Currently, as per the new decision, the U.K. will not accept vaccination certificates that have not been given in the U.K. This means, that from 19 July, ONLY UK residents arriving from medium risk amber countries will be exempt from the quarantine rule. Even British people who live overseas would not yet be able to show a vaccination certificate that can be accepted. The UK government has called this the phase 1 of reopening.
