UAE Likely To Create Travel Corridor With EU And The US: Dubai Airports Chief

UAE is ahead on the vaccination curve, and thanks to the mass vaccination drive launched by the government, almost half the population has now received a jab. And if you are someone who has received both doses of the covid-19 vaccine, then you can currently travel to four countries, without any quarantine upon arrival, thanks to travel corridors. UAE has already established travel corridors with Seychelles, Greece and Serbia. And now, the country is in talks with Europe and the United States Of America to create a travel corridor.

UAE Might Create Quarantine-Free Travel Spaces With EU & USA

The UAE is likely to strike a travel corridor with EU and the US, ahead of its removal from the UK’s red list. The update was given by Paul Griffiths, Dubai Airports Head. He further added that the UK plans to review the countries on its red list on 7 June. However, he said he did not expect the UAE to be removed from the UK’s red list.

Earlier, UAE was also in talks with Maldives to strike a travel corridor. Meanwhile, here are 4 ways you can enjoy Maldives on a budget.

What Is A Travel Corridor?

A travel corridor is an airbridge between two countries, which allows travellers to travel without the need to quarantine. The UAE has now set up travel corridors for vaccinated residents. In order to enjoy quarantine-free travel to these countries, tourists will require to show proof of both doses of vaccination.

Does UAE Have A Travel Corridor With The Maldives?

As of today, UAE does not have a travel corridor with The Maldives. However, talks are on to permit vaccinated UAE residents to travel freely between the two countries. As of now, a specific date has not been revealed, but the two countries are in discussion and hopefully, should get more clarity in a week or two.

Once the travel corridor is in place, vaccinated UAE residents traveling to The Maldives need not show a PCR test upon arrival.

Which Countries Does UAE Have A Travel Corridor With?

1. Bahrain

Travellers arriving in Bahrain must provide proof of vaccination either through the Al Hosn App (UAE) or the BeAware app (Bahrain). While quarantine is no longer in place, travellers still have to follow all the covid-19 restrictions put in place by the authorities. Besides, travelers must also get a PCR test done prior to departure. The result must be uploaded on the apps mentioned above.

2. Greece

Vaccinated UAE residents travelling to Greece no loner need to quarantine. However, all travellers must provide a vaccine certificate, have coronavirus antibodies or have tested negative for COVID-19.

3. Seychelles

The beautiful island of Seychelles is now welcoming vaccinated UAE travellers. The travellers will not have to quarantine on arrival in either country as long as they have a recognised vaccination certificate approved by the health authorities in the two nations. Upon arrival, travellers will have to show an application with documentation that they have received both doses of an approved Covid-19 vaccine, alongside PCR laboratory test results taken 72 hours before arrival. Besides that, adherence to safety measures like wearing masks and social distancing in public has to be followed.

4. Serbia

Passengers holding a valid vaccination certificate can travel between the UAE and Serbia without having to quarantine on arrival. Travellers must have taken Sinopharm, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, or Sputnik V. Passengers must follow all the precautionary measures in place at each destination.
