UAE: Work From Home Announced For 70 Percent Of Government Employees Amid Omicron

Working from home vs. returning to the office is the great workplace argument of our day. Companies want their employees back, even only for a portion of the week. Employees have few excuses now that numerous government limitations got breathers. But a rapid rise in cases to over 2,000 per day warrants caution. Many firms, including their managers, have noticed the advantages of working from home. This includes increased productivity and having employees available for extended periods of time.

In Umm Al Quwain, 70% of government employees have access to the work-from-home system. Employees whose nature of the job does not need them to be in office, according to the Emirate’s Executive Council, might be under effect.
The remaining workers will work from home. As a preventive measure, the system will remain in place until the end of January. Employee dedication to all Covid safety standards, including sufficient social separation, was clearly mentioned in a circular issued by the Executive Council.

Where Does UAE Stand Legally To Allow WFH?

Employees in the United Arab Emirates have the option of working from home. Companies have every legal authority to inform employees that they must return to work. The workplaces have taken the decision to permit Work From Home only to combat the spread of COVID-19 variants in 2022.

In a region like Dubai, where regulations allow for 100% capacity, officials said, a corporation is in “quite a strong position” to tell employees they must return to work.

Who All Are Eligible For Work From Home?

Employees can choose to work remotely, according to a circular issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources. However, it must not disrupt his or her department’s general operation.

Remote work is also an option for male employees whose spouses work in the health or education fields. The work-from-home option is available to moms with children in grades 6 or below, depending on their children’s distance learning schedule.
