Uber Launches ‘ScUber’, The First Underwater Rideshare Service

Uber is launching ‘ScUber’, a first of it’s kind underwater rideshare service in Australia on Monday, 27th May and this is a ride we won’t say no to!

What Is It?

‘ScUber’ will offer a one of a kind submarine experience, and promises an unfiltered 180 degree view of Australia’s World Heritage Site, the Great Barrier Reef.

The $3000 trip allows two riders($1500 each) will only be available for riders departing from Heron Island, off the coast of Gladstone in the Southern Great Barrier Reef region.

What’s In It?

The riders can book their ride using the Uber app, which will then transport them to the island followed by a one hour unforgettable, underwater experience in the ScUber Submarine.

The passengers will be maximum taken to a depth of 30 m (which is the depth reached by advance level scuba divers) where they can marvel at the untouched beauty of the Great Barrier Reef.

What’s More?

The best part about this magical underwater experience is that it does not have any negative impact on the reef. The submarine is battery powered and carries 3 passengers, i.e. 2 riders and the pilot.
