The number of people and vehicles on roads is on an epic rise in most parts of the world. Talking about India, Delhi is surely one of the most bustling and crowded cities in the country. Lakhs of people commute to different places every day for schools, colleges, offices, workplaces, and more. Right now, there are many transportation modes offering convenience to passengers. Soon, Uber will start operating bus services in the national city, adding another option to the list of public transportation.
Uber Bus Services To Soon Begin In Delhi
As of now, we have seen Uber cabs, two-wheelers, and autos plying on the streets and dropping commuters at their locations. Delhi is all set to witness the Uber buses running all around soon. Recently, the company received a licence from the Delhi Transport Department that makes it eligible to operate buses in the city, according to a report by The Economic Times.
This licence plays a significant role in allowing the company providing ride-hailing facilities to soon start running premium bus services. It was back in November 2023 when the Delhi government nodded yes to a new ‘premium bus service scheme’. This permitted licence of Uber comes under the guidelines of the same aggregator scheme. The primary purpose of approving the scheme was to decrease the number of private vehicles on the roads.
Targeting the upper-middle-class people in the city, the scheme’s initiative is to influence residents to choose this mode of transportation rather than taking out their vehicles. Lessening the number of four-wheelers and two-wheelers will indeed contribute to reducing pollution and more harsh effects too.
