UK Announces Travel Rules For Passengers, New Rules Effective From Monday

The UK has announced a new set of rules for travellers who are planning to travel internationally. Passengers travelling internationally from the UK will now need to carry a few extra documents, which will state that their trip is permitted. Here’s everything you must know about this new update.

UK Travellers To Produce A Document Before Travelling Internationally 

The new travel rules will come into effect from Monday, so from tomorrow, passengers will need a document to prove that they are not breaking stay-at-home regulations. The form can be downloaded from the government’s website and should be signed before travel and carried while travelling. Passengers who fail to produce the document when asked can face a fine of between £200 and £6,400. The documents will be checked periodically at the airports.

The new move has been announced by the Department for Transport and the authorities said,

“Carriers will be checking the forms have been completed before boarding, either at check-in (online or at the check-in desk) or the departure gate. Passengers who do not have a valid form may be denied access to their booked service. Police have been stepping up their presence at ports and airports in recent weeks. Officers will be conducting spot checks and have the power to ask travellers to produce a completed form.”

The UK Is till Follow Stay-at-home Rules, Which Makes Leisure Travel Illegal 

When it comes to the rules in the UK, citizens still have to follow the stay-at-home rules, which means that travelling internationally is illegal in the UK. However, one can travel for a permitted reason, such as education or work.

For people who do travel, they have to get three covid-19 tests done. The tests will be done before departure, one on day two after arrival and one on day eight. Arrivals must self-isolate for 10-days, with those coming from 33 red-list countries, including the UAE, South Africa and most of South America, required to enter hotel quarantine.
