UK Based Marks & Spencer Plans To Introduce Its Food Products In India

The UK-based Marks & Spencer is planning to introduce its food products next year. The plan is to tap the growing demand for quality food products in India. They want to introduce its food items in some of its department stores. This is almost 14 years after their joint venture with Reliance Retail. The introduction will take place in the National Capital Region’s DLF-owned malls.

Marks & Spencer Introduces Food Products

The department store chain, Marks & Spencer, sells high-quality home ranges, clothing, and food in more than 100 different markets. DLF Cyber Hub in Gurgaon, Mall of India in Noida, and DLF Avenue in Saket in New Delhi are the DLF properties that the chain operates from. They have significant ambitions with their partner Reliance to grow their presence in India. They are looking at coming up with the most relevant ranges. There are no immediate plans to launch their food in the market. But there are plans to pilot the launch with one or two Marks & Spencer stores. They are also planning to add space to the existing stores.

Food Items By Foreign Countries

Selling food items by foreign countries in India was a very sensitive subject in the 2010s. IKEA had to struggle for years to add its IKEA Cafe to its outlets. The government approvals took too long for approvals. The Swedish furniture and home company sells many food items in its cafeteria in large outlets. The cafeteria is a huge part of the outlet. The UK saw a huge growing demand for vegetarian food. Marks & Spencer decided to tap the market and launched its new range of vegetarian meals. Veggie Roasted Mushroom Ravioli and Veggie Roasted Butternut Risotto are two of the 14 meals that were launched.
