The UK Government is amplifying the Global Talent Visa to streamline the movement of Indian experts in sectors like AI, biotechnology, engineering, and digital technology. The visa does not require a job offer, making it a flexible route for professionals. The scheme allows holders to work for any employer, switch roles, become self-employed, and bring their families. It also provides a clear path to settlement after three to five years, depending on endorsement status.

Lord Vallance spoke at the “Unlocking UK‑India Collaboration for a New Era of Innovation” event in London on 20 June 2025, calling for enhanced mobility of skilled professionals. He underlined that government-to-government links alone are not enough and that academic and research community engagement is crucial for innovation.

He also noted that the UK is set to publish a new Industrial Strategy within weeks. This policy will prioritise international collaboration and further elevate India’s role as a key partner. The Global Talent Visa is a central component of that strategy.
