Whenever you think of clear pristine waters, unfortunately, we only think of foreign beaches. We are so used to the idea of water bodies in India being murky and dirty, that this idea is permanently etched in our minds. However, this river in Meghalaya will change this perception of ours. The waters of the Umngot river are so pristine and crystal clear that it looks like the boat is floating mid-air.
Umngot River: Boat Looks Like It’s Floating In The Air
In a video posted on the 2nd of February on Twitter, a boat is shown floating down the river Umngot. However, the water is so clear that it seems like the boat is floating in the air. A woman is seen sitting on the edge of the boat, no doubt, enjoying the scenic boat ride.
The video is 7 seconds long and is posted by the Twitter handle Go Arunachal Pradesh. Since it was first posted on the micro-blogging website, it has garnered over 5 million views and over 235 thousand likes. The caption reads “Have you ever seen this Flying boat in India?”

Cleanest River In India
As expected, Netizens responded to the video with lots of love and a little humour. Some people even shared photographs of their own visits to the clear and pristine waters of the Umngot River. Some people sarcastically remarked that the boat isn’t actually floating in the air but the transparency of the water makes it seem so.
The Umngot River is also spelt as Umngot River and is also known as the Dawki River or Wah Umngot. It is located at the bottom of the Jaintia Hills in the West Jaintia Hills District in the Indian state of Meghalaya.
The river is said to be one of the cleanest rivers in India. Certainly, the video is a testament to that fact.
