This month, he is back on the big screens with a new action film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, along with his co-star Tiger Shroff. Why Did Akshay Kumar Change His Name?

It is a known fact that celebrities change or revise their names under the influence of astrology for success, popularity or other reasons. From Raj Kapoor to Dilip Kumar to Amitabh Bachchan, the majority of the film fraternity alters their real names and one of them is our Bade Miyan, Akshay. In this episode, Kamiya was curious and asked him for the reason behind changing his name.

He replied, “Just like that,” and Kamiya knew it couldn’t be ‘just like that’ and asked him again. This time she wanted to understand why the name ‘Akshay’. His answer made everyone chuckle and he said, “Kuch toh hai lekin woh main keh nahi sakta.” (There is a reason, but I can’t disclose it.)

To clear the air, he shared that his preference to change his name from Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia to Akshay Kumar was not due to any astrological beliefs, pandits or maulvis.

He Doesn’t Believe In Astrology, At All

Delving deeper into this conversation, Akshay Kumar revealed that he truly doesn’t think about planetary alignments and how they rule your life. He was never too interested in astrology and will never be. He shared that one of the things that bothers him is the negative things or situations written about his sun sign, Virgo. If he reads anything unpleasant written about Virgo, he simply tosses the newspaper and moves on with life as it was.
