That thefts are a recurring nightmare in Italy is something every traveller is warned of. But even celebrities like Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya weren’t spared as the couple is currently stranded in Florence following a nightmarish robbery. They arrived in Florence a day before and looked forward to doing touristy things. Alas, their excitement was short-lived as their passports, wallets and valuables worth ₹10 lakh were stolen in the Italian city.

Divyanka Tripathi & Vivek Dahiya Stranded In Florence Following A Robbery

Vivek Dahiya spoke to Times Of India about his ordeal, he mentioned that everything about their Europe trip had been incredible except for this (robbery) incident. The couple were exploring properties for their stay in Florence. During this time, they left their luggage and other belongings in the car and went to check out a stay.

When they returned, Vivek and Divyanka were shocked to see that the car had been broken into. Their passports, wallets, shopping items, money and all their valuable items were stolen. Fortunately, some old clothes and food items were left behind. Vivek said that items worth ₹10 lakh were robbed.

Vivek shared a video on Instagram of the ransacked car. The actor stated that they got robbed despite parking the car in a “safe” location with the knowledge of the hotel staff. He revealed that their wallets, cash, legal documents and the items they shopped for in the past 15 days, were all stolen.

Couple Seeks Help From Embassy For Return To India

The couple reached out to the police in Florence. However, the local police were of no help. He stated to TOI that the local police dismissed their case arguing that the specific area didn’t have CCTV cameras. And due to this issue, the police said they couldn’t help them. The police also told Vivek and Divyanka that there was no point in them even visiting the location to investigate.

As the police station in Florence shuts at 6 pm, they refused to help beyond that time. The couple also reached out to the embassy. Unfortunately, the Indian Embassy was also closed for the day. Divyanka and Vivek are scheduled to return to India in a few days. And the actors are in desperate need of bureaucratic assistance as they don’t have their passports on them following the robbery.

Vivek told TOI that they are currently staying in a small town near Florence. He credited the hotel staff for their kindness and help. The couple require temporary passports and help from the embassy to return to India. Without any cash, they are stuck.

We hope the couple gets speedy help and can return to India smoothly.
