Andheri Station Is Set To Become A Railopolis!
A significant makeover is planned for Andheri Station. The Railway Land Development Authority is putting the finishing touches on a concept plan to renovate the station, with an emphasis on modernising infrastructure, adding top-notch passenger amenities, and putting policies in place to relieve congestion for quicker commuter dispersal.
One of the busiest stations on the Western Railway (WR), it serves two important railway lines: Western, which connects Churchgate with Dahanu, and Harbour, which travels towards CSMT or Panvel. The Andheri train station is to the east of the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro Line 1 station. Around 4.2 lakh passengers travel by this station every day.
The renovated station will be completely accessible to differently-abled individuals. It will feature green building principles-based sustainable practices. Additionally, a smart station model will be implemented. The station will have a combination of an advanced building management system and CCTV coverage. A commercial area will be constructed above the concourse level to improve the passenger experience.

What Are Railopolis?
Under the renovation plan, Indian Railways intends to turn the train stations into world-class centres. These updated and modernised stations will be known as “Railopolis,” and it is undoubtedly anticipated that they will draw significant investment and commercial prospects. In order to better serve the needs of the passengers, Railopolis permits the rebuilding of the station structures, platform surfaces, and circulating areas.
Because of Railopolis, railway stations will be multi-modal transit hubs. Further, the place will have waiting and seating areas. It will ensure less congestion to avoid overcrowding. In order to eliminate the possibility of accidents or stampede scenarios, there will be complete separation between passengers coming and departing.

Similar to airports, stores and food courts will be opened to help pass the time while waiting.
