Attention ladies! In the interest of the safety of women all across the city, Delhi government has come up with a solution to make traveling easy for the women in Delhi. According to an announcement made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, women in Delhi can soon travel in DTC Buses and Metros for FREE!
What Is It?
While the center’s approval on the move is still pending, Mr. Kejriwal said that it can very well be expected to be launched in three months.

While Delhi might be the first city in India to encourage free public rides, this is not something new to the Western world. Several European countries have provided free public transport to all citizens in order to reduce the usage of private vehicles, with the aim to reduce air pollution.

There is nothing wrong with free travel on public transport in my opinion, it will reduce congestion on roads n is good 4 environment. But this free travel needs to be extended to the poor n students & it shouldn’t b gender based. Still d working class women of delhi r happy

The Chief Minister further added that those who want to buy tickets are free to do so as several women can afford these modes of transport. Those who can afford it, can buy tickets and forgo subsidy so others could benefit.

The Delhi Chief Minister said his government would bear the cost of free rides for women on the Delhi Metro and public buses.
