The Hindustan Times was informed by an M2M Ferries official about a new ship they recently purchased. They brought it from Italy and it is a 15-year-old, second-hand boat. According to the report, this ship is currently in dry dock in Mumbai and is expected to depart the following month. They have submitted clearance requests to the Director General of Shipping as well as other authorities.
It was also mentioned in the report that the business intends to operate the Mumbai-Goa RoPAX service between the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) in Goa and Ferry Wharf in Mazgaon, Mumbai. Since MPA is close to Vasco, which is a little distance from Panaji and Margao, they are also in negotiations with the Goan Government to permit their ship to land at a port in Panaji. The company’s RoPAX ship has space for 60 automobiles and 620 passengers. The officials stated that a fare structure has not yet been determined.

Status Of The Ferry Permissions
According to M2M Ferries, they have sent their application to the DG, Shipping. It’s worth mentioning that the market between Mumbai and Goa is competitive. If the federal government provided them with tax breaks and fuel VAT subsidies, that would be fantastic. The M2M Ferries application has been received by the agency, and it is currently being processed, as revealed by the Director General of Shipping, Shyam Jagannathan.

According to Pradeep Sudhakar, chief ship surveyor at the Director General of Shipping’s office, they have approved the submission. The Indian Register of Shipping currently has the documents.
Regarding passenger ships, Cordellia Cruises presently operates a high-end cruise liner between Mumbai and Goa. This section was previously served by another cruise liner, ‘Angriya,’ but the service was discontinued during the COVID-19 epidemic. Previously, Damania Shipping ran a hovercraft from Ferry Wharf to Panaji and returned in the 1990s. The ship used to leave at 6 am, reach Goa by 1:30 pm, and then head back to Mumbai at night.
