On Tuesday afternoon, around 20 people were hospitalised in Vadodara due to food poisoning caused by free poha that was distributed in the Fatehgunj area. All these people were migrant labourers and their children and were residents of a slum in Suryanagar in Fatehgunj. The food was distributed near the Maikrupa school polling station, close to the Suryanagar settlement.

The most affected were children who had complained about vomiting and stomach ache shortly after eating the poha. As their condition worsened, they were taken to the SSG Hospital for immediate treatment. Some of them were even taken to the emergency ward due to their worsening condition. According to the doctors, it is a case of food poisoning from the poha.

It has been reported that the poha was distributed near polling stations in the Fatehgunj area. However, the affected people have claimed that they had no idea who was distributing the food in the first place. The Vadodara Police had reassured that an investigation to know more about this free poha distribution that led to food poisoning had been launched after the close of voting on Tuesday. So far, two people have been released from the hospital as their condition has improved.

We hope that the police are able to find out what went wrong during their investigation. Also, we wish for the speedy recovery of all the people hospitalised in this unfortunate incident!
