Women are poised to be a major force in the summer economy, especially when it comes to live music. Following a year where female concertgoers fuelled national stadium tours by major pop artists, the trend continues. This summer, 51% of Millennial and Gen Z women plan on attending music festivals and concerts, with 43% specifically aiming to check these experiences off their bucket lists.

Millennials and Gen Z are making travel a top priority this summer, with many planning trips focused on specific activities like wellness retreats or entertainment hotspots. A whopping 81% of these young adults have summer travel plans, with 62% building their itineraries around a single activity.

Food is also a major focus for younger generations this summer. Nearly half (47%) of Millennials and Gen Z plan on attending food festivals, showcasing their love for exciting culinary experiences. Even everyday meals are getting an upgrade, with two-thirds of this group spending at least $40 (₹3300) a week on takeout. These young adults are also known for their adventurous palates – 41% actively seek out hard-to-get restaurant reservations, compared to just 13% of Baby Boomers and 24% of Gen Xers.

The Amex Trendex is a valuable tool that tracks consumer sentiment on spending, saving, and travel trends. The survey for this report was conducted by Morning Consult in May 2024 and included over 2,000 US adults with a household income exceeding $50,000 (INR 1 Lakh).
