People are getting concerned about West Nile fever and the recent cases have spread fear among many as well. The Kerala Health Department has already issued an advisory. This recently issued advisory is for all the districts in the state and how each place needs to take strict steps to combat the number of cases.

Right now, it is extremely important to protect each person from the disease. Also, the Health Department officials advised districts to conduct more pre-monsoon cleaning drives and surveillance, according to a report by Firstpost.

Kozhikode reported a total of 5 positive cases for the mosquito-borne disease. Sadly, some of these patients are children as well. One of the scariest things about this illness is how a huge percentage of patients do not show any kind of symptoms to detect. It is said that only around 20 per cent of people show symptoms. Some of the indications and changes in the body to take note of are:

  • Fever
  • Getting tired
  • Nausea
  • Body ache
  • Vomiting
  • Headache
  • Rashes

All these issues as mentioned above are common symptoms. However, there are chances that patients may also face problems such as high fever, tremors, neck stiffness, muscle weakness, coma, and even death, the World Health Organization (WHO) mentioned. People over 60 years old need to stay very alert as the risk of suffering from West Nile Fever is higher for older people. In fact, the symptoms may easily affect people with weaker immunity.
