The annual Institute For Quality Of Life’s Happy City Index 2024 is out! This annual list reviews 1,000 cities across the world and picks 250 cities based on factors like quality of life and the sense of happiness of its residents. These 250 cities are then divided into Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories based on extensive data. This year, two Indian cities have made it to the World’s Happiest Cities List in the Bronze category. Bengaluru and Chennai have emerged as the only two Indian cities on this list. Only Two Indian Cities Feature On The List
Based on reliable, indisputable and objective data, Happy City Index 2024 have listed Bengaluru and Chennai as the happiest Indian cities. On this list, Bengaluru has been placed on 210th and Chennai on 232nd rank. They are the only two Indian cities featured on the World’s Happiest Cities list.
As per the website, these rankings are based on five factors – citizens, governance, environment, economy and mobility. Each city is given points on these factors and then ranked on the list. The top 37 cities on the list are under the Golden “Happiest” Cities category. While cities placed from 38th to 100th rank fall in the Silver category. Cities from 101 to 250 are ranked in the Bronze category.
Bengaluru scored a total of 1274.9, while Chennai scored 1232.9 in the five aforementioned categories. To give you an idea, Aarhus in Denmark has been named the happiest city in the world and it has scored a total of 1749.2 on this list.
