The lighter-than-air hot air balloon with the little wicker basket not only looks beautiful but offers a stunning view of the city! It is also a tourist attraction as people love to take a ride, especially if they are planning a romantic proposal. The city of León, Guanajuato, hosted a four-day celebration that saw more than 200 hot air balloons fill the sky. There were participants from 23 different countries. Some balloons were given unique shapes like unicorns, dinosaurs, elephants and popular characters like SpongeBob. This festival in Leon is also a national holiday and the first flight of hot air balloons. The first hot air balloon flight took off from the state of Guanajuato and ended in Rio Verde in 1842.
