Who doesn’t love a fancy Indian meal? Filled with rich spices, color and flavors, Indian cuisines definitely has an exquisite taste that gets food enthusiasts craving for more. And now, we’ve discovered an Indian restaurant in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah! Amala- a signature Indian restaurant at Jumerah Zabeel Saray, serves a Shahenshahi Thali that is touted to be the largest in the UAE. Consisting of 40 dishes and weighing a whopping 13 kgs, this thali is fit for a king, queen and all of their courtiers. Read on to know more!

The Shahenshah Thali Includes 40 Dishes & Costs AED

First things first, it will take you a few minutes to read the items on the thali. The thali draws inspiration from the Mughals, and their entry into the Indian cuisine. Well, there are 40 items on the menu, so you got to brave that before you dig in. After this, two waiters carry the 13 kg thali to the table, and the chef then takes you through the dishes on the thali. Following this, your minds are sure to be boggled, your tastebuds excited for the culinary journey.

The 13kg thali is conceptualized by Chef Dirham Haque, who has carefully crafted some of the best delicacies in the thali. To begin with, the Shahenshah thali inlcudes over 15 different types of curries, 12 different types of kebabs, over 7 different types of breads, gravies, desserts, rice varieties and more. Clearly, it’s a meat-centric thali though there are vegetarian options too.

The thali includes signature delicacies from Mughalai cuisine including Miskin Nihari- a recipes that dates back to the kitchens of the Mughal Empress-Begum Zeenat. The dish is made of prime cuts of Indian lamb simmered for 24 hours in its own stock flavoured with brown onion and potli masala.

That aside, there’s also a slow-cooked lamb dish- Silbatte ke Shammi. A favourite of Bijris Qadir, this lamb delicacy is slow cooked and hand pounded with lentil galettes, Bharwan Aloo- Stuffed tandoor cooked potatoes, Gosht Baoli Handi – Indian lamb curry flavoured with Kashmiri red chili, fresh fennel and dry ginger, Firdausi Biryani- a Royal Mughal biryani, Shahed e Jaam- Royal condensed milk dumplings cooked in sugar syrup and much more!

Besides, the thali also includes some popular signature dishes including dhal, murgh kurma, rubian kurma, and more. Well, this Thai is sure to take you on a culinary trip to the dining room of Mughals and Avadh nawabs- so make sure you head here with a BIG appetite.

The colourful thali is priced at AED 150 and can be shared among four people. The shahenshahi Thali is only available on request, by prior reservation. So, make sure you pre-order.
