5 Must-Visit Temples In The Holy Town Of Pushkar

Pushkar is a town of pilgrim sites also known as Tirtha-raj. Pushkar is a prominent town that is crowded with devotees throughout the year. This pilgrimage town is also one of the most frequently visited tourist places in Rajasthan. People from all over the world visit this place because of its historic architectural beauty, its spectacular Pushkar Fair, and its religious significance. However, this city was known for its temples and will be known for the same always. So, let’s look at some of the must-visit Pushkar Temples.

1. Old Ranji Temple

Rangji Temple is one of the ancient temples in Pushkar. This 150-year-old temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (incarnation of Lord Ranji) The architecture of this temple has a little South Indian touch because it is believed that this temple was commissioned to be built by a merchant Seth Puran Mal Ganeriwal of Hyderabad in 1823.

Rangji Temple is completely wrapped with sand all around, one can definitely spend some alone time or some family time while relaxing on the sand. After the offerings, one can avail of the most delicious laddus in the form of Prasad for 10 bucks.

2. Brahma Temple

Pushkar is the only place in the entire world that has a Brahma Temple. The reason behind this is still not clear, some say Lord Brahma was cursed by his mother, whereas some people believe the curse came from his first wife and many more such beliefs are still there.

Anyways Brahma Temple has exquisite architecture, including a red spire and an image of a bird which are considered sacred to Lord Brahma. If you are visiting Pushkar, this has to be a must-visit temple on your list.

3. Savitri Temple

Another religious Temple with an interesting story. It is said that Savitri Devi was supposed to sit in a yagna with Lord Brahma but she didn’t reach at the time and because of that Lord Brahma performed the yagna rituals with a local girl Gayatri (whom later Lord Brahma married). When Savitri saw all this she got pissed off and in order to please her, this temple was built. Both Savitri and Gayatri’s deities are kept in this temple only. To date first Savitri’s evening aarti is performed and later Gayatri’s.

4. Saraswati Temple

Saraswati temple is another well-known temple of Pushkar. It is dedicated to Lord Brahma’s other wife Devi Saraswati. She is considered the epitome of knowledge and art.

People involved in various creative fields keep visiting this temple in to worship Saraswati Deity.

5. Apteshwar Mahadev Temple

Apteshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Mahadeva and it was built in the 19th century. The highlight of this temple is the statue of Mahadeva. Mahadev’s statue has 5 faces, 4 faces representing the directions and the 5th one representing the symbol of purity.

It is just one km away from Pushkar Bus Station. The architecture is mainly built from white marble which reflects peace.
