5. Nagai Gurgaon

Nagai is Japanese for Longevity. A Japanese restaurant with roots in Ibiza, has recently opened its doors in India with their first Contemporary Japanese and Sake bar at Gurgaon. A labour of love from chefs Reina Nagai and Eleonora in partnership with Akshay Mohan, this is their first of four proposed restaurants in India, tucked beside the restaurant of sector 29, yet in an exclusive space of its own. Nagai Gurgaon is the essence of contemporary Japanese cuisine along with a Sake Bar serving awe inspiring food by Chef Reina Nagai.

The walls of the restaurant reflect enthralling artwork by Fin DAC, an Irish urban street artist, based in London, who makes large murals of masked women with fashionable style, with emphasis on their beauty. This larger than life realist work and skilled stencilling further accentuates the European vibe of Nagai.

Chef, Reina Nagai says, “Nagai concept of sushi is simple. We don’t mix up too many flavors and don’t like to complicate the flavors. You don’t get the essence of the flavor if you mix too many flavors together. The mix of vinegar and sugar and our secret ingredient in the recipe is what creates the sushi. Our original made sushisu (sushi vinegar) gives original Japanese taste.

With a menu that carries influences from Thailand, Spain, Mexico and Italy, delicately woven into authentic Japanese cuisine, Nagai promises to enthral the palate and all other senses, a bit and a sip at a time!

Nagai offers something delicious for everyone, from meat-lovers to vegetarians and vegans too!
