Our love for travelling and exploring the world is never-ending. For most travel enthusiasts, the appetite to book tickets and pack bags to visit somewhere new makes a return quite frequently. With every passing year, globetrotters are chasing their dreams of travelleing the world and we are clearly witnessing a rise in the changing travel trends. From planning to go on solo trips to simply being flexible with travel plans, here are some travel trends to take note of.

The recently revealed American Express 2024 Global Travel Trends report revealed some fascinating data about travellers from different parts of the world and how they are planning to enjoy holidays this year. Conducted from January 31 to February 8, 2024, the study has been conducted from results shared by adults from India (1,005), the US (2,005), Mexico (1,006), Australia (1,007), Canada (1,002), and Japan (1,002). The respondents take a trip at least once every year and have a minimum of about ₹41,44,752 equivalent.

76 per cent of millennials and GenZ are excited to go on a solo trip in 2024. That’s surely a huge number for travelling alone to new destinations. Interestingly, 66 per cent of these tourists wish to enjoy solo trips focusing on self-love and treating themselves. Another point to note here is how 60 per cent of the respondents are planning to enjoy 2 or more solo holidays.

‘Live Life King Size’ and ‘Live Life To The Fullest’ seem to be the mantra for most travellers this year. According to the American Express report, 65 per cent of respondents are interested in enjoying a grand holiday this year. Some wish the trip to be filled with immersive experiences in remote places. While others wish to enjoy a long vacation in a few countries together. 63 per cent would love to visit Europe to explore multiple countries on a holiday.

Being Flexible Is The Key!

Most of us follow a scheduled lifestyle with our jobs and tons of things to do in a day. And in such a routine-led time, many globetrotters are looking for flexible travel plans with some spontaneity. Last-minute bookings and one-way tickets clearly show how travellers are planning vacations on a whim. 78 per cent of respondents gave a thumbs up to spontaneous travel plans. And 68 per cent revealed how they like to leave at any unplanned time to enjoy the local experiences.

The travel sector is witnessing a significant boost for the love for sports and sports lovers are booking tickets and making holiday plans based on sporting events. 58 per cent travellers who are visiting host cities this year are travelling to enjoy matches of basketball, Formula 1, or soccer.
