9th Edition Of Himalayan Drive: Here’s Everything You Need To Know About It!

We are aware that India is hosting the G20 Summit and there are several events organised on the side. One such event called ‘Himalayan Drive’ was organised by Experience Bengal, Gorkha Territorial Administration and the Government Of Sikkim. Being the ninth edition, this event was flagged by Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy from Mayfair Tea Resort In Siliguri.

This event was an integral part of the Tourism Working Group (TWG) Global Meet under the G20 summit. Besides the Tourism Minister, Darjeeling Lok Sabha MP Raju Bista, Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla, government officials and the delegates of the G20 summit along with the State Government Of West Bengal were present at the event.

It is a three-day drive that will travel through Dooars, Darjeeling Hills and Sikkim. The first part of this rally is 220 kilometres. After being flagged off, twenty-eight vehicles took a round of Siliguri City and headed to Khaprail. The participants had to cross tourist destinations Gorubathan and Damdim before reaching the end point of the rally’s first stage.

The second part of this drive was flagged from Murti on April 3rd 2023 and participants had to cover another challenging road of 220 kilometres. This road was filled with narrow village roads, tea estates and riverbeds. The third part includes 150 kilometres and will be flagged from Gangtok. With mountains, steep gorges and forest areas, the participants will have an adventurous journey. After the end of this drive rally, the prizes will be distributed on April 5th, 2023.

Including two All Ladies’ teams, 28 participants will have to navigate and drive their way through the terrain for three days. Just Sportz Management Pvt Ltd. was selected to run this JK Tyre Himalayan Drive. Moreover, this company is an affiliate of the Federation of Motorsports Club of India.

After completing eight successful editions, they stepped on to complete the ninth one. And according to the director, the first eight editions have unlocked great potential and have become a part of the prestigious G20 summit.
