The Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation (UKMRC) is establishing the Dehradun–Haridwar–Rishikesh Metro Corridor to provide hassle-free transportation facilities to the people. Construction will soon begin on the future metro rail project in Uttarakhand. Metro services in Dehradun are expected to start operating in three years, which will greatly benefit the people. The elevated metro is expected to be constructed in two phases.
Improving Connectivity And Easing Travel
Through the initiative, Rishikesh and Haridwar will have better connectivity and higher foot traffic. The Metro Corridor Dehradun-Haridwar-Rishikesh will be able to carry approximately one lakh commuters daily once it is operational. Traffic on the roads will be significantly reduced owing to this. Using primary and secondary traffic data, Uttarakhand Metro Rail, Urban Infrastructure and Building Construction Corporation Limited prepared a detailed project report for Metro Neo, an innovative transport system. The estimated cost of the whole project will be ₹40,150 crores.
