Actor Rahman Praises This German Man For Graciously Cleaning Kerala Beach

Pristine beaches, backwaters and seafood- this is what defines Kerala. The place is a paradise, to say the least. Every person swears by the simplicity and natural beauty of this state. But no matter how beautiful the place is, humans have a tendency to throw garbage everywhere. And the beaches of Kerala are on the path of becoming dump yards. The amount of plastic waste found here is unbelievable. And while no one pays attention to this, a man from Germany gears up to clean the mess. Malayalam actor Rahman shared a video of this foreigner cleaning a Kerala beach.

Actor Rahman shared a story on his Facebook account of a German man cleaning a beach in Kerala. The video starts by showing the man heading towards the beach and cleaning heaps of garbage. While he sweeps, there is a voice of a man in the background informing that whenever this man comes here, he does this task. And this time, he is doing this for a week. Still, none of the locals or administration pays attention to him. The location of this beach is still unknown.

Waste Strewn On Beaches Continues To Be A Menace

Kerala was among the fifty-two places listed in the New York Times that you should visit. Though Kerala has pristine beaches, a serene environment, rich culture and backwaters, the waste management of India is a concerning issue that only a few people want to address. If you look at beaches around the coastal areas, you can see a majority of them are filled with garbage, especially plastic. In Mumbai, beaches are littered with plastic trash and no one bats an eyelid.

Just like this man, a married couple from Karnataka were earlier praised for cleaning nearly five hundred kilograms of garbage at the Someshwara beach. The garbage consisted of chappals, plastic bottles, bags and other things. Within a week, they had cleared nearly seventy per cent of waste from the shores.

It’s time to take matters into our hands and take part in beach clean-up drives.
