ADAFSA Shuts Down Birat Manila For Serving Non-Halal Food In Abu Dhabi

When we go out to eat food, we don’t just trust the staff with a great dinner experience, but we are also trusting them to make a meal that is safe. Not to mention, we are also entrusting them to follow all the guidelines put in place by the government. However, sometimes, there are a few establishments that fail to follow such rules! So, to ensure that they are always following the necessary precautions, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture & Food Safety Authority takes strict precautions. And recently, the authorities shut down a restaurant for serving non-halal food to its customers.

Birat Manila Restaurant In Abu Dhabi Was Shut Down By ADAFSA

Recently, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture & Food safety authority took to its official account on X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce the closure of a restaurant. The post mentioned the closure of Birat Manila Restaurant in Abu Dhabi for violating Law No. 2 of 2008 that’s relating to food in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. As such, their decision to administratively close this restaurant comes after they were found serving non-halal food, according to a report by Khaleej Times. Not to mention, they were also found preparing halal food with the same utensils (that were used for non-halal items).

Will The Restaurant Be Allowed To Open Again?

It should be noted that the social media account also mentioned the restaurant using practices that posed a significant risk to the public. However, the restaurant will be allowed to operate once again after they procure the necessary permits for selling non-halal food. Moreover, they will have to change their equipment and sterilise the entire premises, thoroughly, before reopening for the general public. This is, however, not the first time a restaurant has been shut down by the ADAFSA. Previously, the authority also shut down the Al Raha Gate Restaurant in Abu Dhabi as there was confirmation of a number of poisoning cases. Yes, a number of people were affected, after eating a grilled chicken meal that was contaminated with salmonella bacteria due to the poor storage of the same.

This authority makes sure to take all the necessary precautions and it encourages the public to call them, in case they notice restaurants, not following safety measures at their establishments.
