Ahmedabad Zoos, Lakes, Parks, Bus Services Closed Amid Rising Covid Cases In City

Viewing the surge in COVID-19 cases, on March 17, 2021, the Ahmedabad civic body declared the shutting down of the city zoos, lakefront and all public gardens. On March 16, Ahmedabad recorded 241 new cases. The virus cases in the city have crossed 60,990, and around  2,269 fatalities have been reported so far. The civic body has also identified 60 micro-containment areas where COVID cases have been detected. Read on to know more.

Zoos, Lakefront, Gardens Closed In Ahmedabad; Night Curfew Imposed After 10 PM

According to a National Herald report, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has said in a release, “It has been decided to close all the gardens, Kankaria Lakefront, zoo, etc from March 18 till further orders in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.” The Gujarat Government has increased the night curfew timings in Ahmedabad and three other cities by two hours. Night curfew will remain in force in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot between 10 PM and 6 AM from March 17 to March 31. Till March 15, the government had imposed night curfew in these cities between 12 PM and 6 AM.

Other States That Are Going Back To Lockdown

Maharashtra’s Nagpur has also entered a seven-day strict lockdown,  from March 15 to 21, 2021. The streets of Nagpur are now wearing a deserted avatar, with offices, malls, educational institutes closed and all types of large gatherings prohibited. Amid surging cases, Tamil Nadu has also increased lockdown till March 31. The order says that the administration should strictly enforce measures to prevent Covid-19 and use provisions of Section 144 as far as possible.  Karnataka has banned late-night parties at clubs and star hotels to curb the virus spread. Karnataka’s Health Minister K Sudhakar stated that all late-night parties at star hotels and restaurants across the state will be banned to control coronavirus spread. The pandemic has not ended yet. So, stay safe and follow the necessary precautionary measures.
