AirAsia, which previously operated 12 flights per week from Kochi to Kuala Lumpur, announced additional flights from Kerala to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The new route originates in the southern Indian city of Thiruvananthapuram, often known as Trivandrum.

Beginning on February 21, 2024, this new route will operate four times a week. It is anticipated that tourists from all walks of life will be drawn to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital city, for its incredible attractiveness. The vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur is home to many architectural wonders, delectable regional food, charming markets, and much more.

Since starting flights to India in 2008, when it was still called Tiruchirappalli, the airline has been connecting travellers from India to the rest of the world. The airline will operate its ninth route from India to Malaysia with the opening of this new link. At the moment, AirAsia runs two direct routes from Northern India, via AirAsia X (D7), to Malaysia, and six direct routes from South Indian cities, via AirAsia Malaysia (AK): Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Hyderabad, Kochi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.

Riad Asmat, AirAsia Malaysia CEO, stated that this new connection to Thiruvananthapuram, a historically significant city in India, allows them to further bolster their presence there. When they started progressively returning to their main locations in India after the pandemic last year, it was a historic turning point for them.

They will soon be operating direct flights to Malaysia from nine beautiful destinations in India, spanning from north to south, with 71 weekly flights after this new route launches in February of next year. For Malaysian travellers, India is unquestionably one of AirAsia’s most popular destinations, and vice versa. With regard to international aviation connections between the two countries, they account for 47% of the market.
