Amarnath Yatra Bus Ferrying Pilgrims Meets With Accident; Over 20 Injured

A peaceful Amarnath Yatra looks like a dream now. Every other day India wakes up to the news of a new crisis in the 2022 Yatra. After the Cloudburst incident, there’s another one yet again. On Thursday, a bus carrying pilgrims met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Qazigund. It’s just been three days since the Yatra resumed after a temporary halt. And now we already have another grave accident where at least 20 Amarnath Yatra pilgrims have been injured. Read on to know more about the whole incident that took place on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.

Bus Accident Kills 15 Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims, 45 Are Injured

On Thursday, a tipper dumper rammed into a bus carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. The incident took place at Badragund crossing on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Qazigund. Officials revealed to PTI that a batch comprising 5,449 pilgrims left for the twin base camps of Nunwan-Pahalgam and Baltal in the early hours, on Thursday. The pilgrims left in a convoy of 201 vehicles. Earlier, sources informed that over 20 passengers suffered injuries from the bus accident at Badragund crossing. Police initiated immediate action and the injured were shifted to a hospital in Anantnag for treatment. But a new report reveals that 15 passengers have died in the accident while 45 are injured. The news is absolutely saddening, given that the Yatra was suspended temporarily. And both Pahalgam as well as Baltal routes were closed off. It’s just been few days that the Yatra had resumed again. But looks like the situation isn’t getting any better.

The 2022 Yatra Is Scheduled To End On The Occasion of Shravan Purnima

With every passing day, the holy Amarnath Yatra 2022 is nearing its final stage. This year, numerous tragedies have struck holy Amarnath Yatra. The yatra is scheduled to end on August 11. The ending date also holds a lot of religious importance as its the occasion of Shravan Purnima. The month of Shravan or Sawan, is considered the month of worship of Lord Shiva. Well, let’s hope the Lord bestows blessings on remaining days of the holy Yatra so that it ends in peace and prosperity.
