Arunachal Pradesh’s Tali Gets Connected By Road For The First Time With A 51-Km Yangte-Tali Road

Tali was the last disconnected administrative centre and the sole disconnected Assembly constituency of Arunachal Pradesh. But now, it has been linked by road for the first time since India’s independence. The Administrative Headquarters of Tali was established in 1957, but the locals never saw the light of road connectivity. Finally, after 66 years of waiting, it is now connected to the roads by the 51-Km Yangte-Tali Road.

Tali Gets Connected By Road After 66 Years

Ending years of waiting by the locals in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tali, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the new road. The new road that leads to Tali will provide all season connectivity to the people. Pema Khandu becomes the first Chief Minister to enter Tali in Kra Daadi district by road. The Khamey bridge connecting Arunachal’s Yangte with Tali was also inaugurated. Khandu had promised the locals during his last helicopter tour in 2017 that his subsequent visit would be by road.

This promise was kept on the auspicious occasion of Nyokum. Khandu, at the 45th Nyokum Yullo celebrations, said that he feels proud to be a part of this momentous and historic moment. He mentioned that they worked in mission mode in order to complete the Yangte-Tali road, which is 51 Km long.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Expressed His Happiness

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu posted the news on his Twitter account. He inspected the road from Tali to Pip Sorang, which is currently under-construction. He announced that by the time the locals celebrate the 46th Nyokum Yullo, Pip Sorang will also be connected. Out of the 60 constituencies in Arunachal Pradesh, Tali was the only one that stayed isolated from the rest of the state due to a lack of access roads.

The proposal for a road for the Tali constituency was sanctioned back in 2012, but due to poor implementation, it could not be completed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his happiness over the completion of this much-needed road connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh. On Saturday, Khandu dedicated the rebuilt steel-arch bridge over the Kumey River to the people while en route from Yangte to Tali.
