The northern states have been receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall, according to predictions by the Indian Meteorological Department. Several rain related were also reported wherein 22 people died in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal being a travel destination, has a large number of tourists visiting the state every season. If you too have travel plans, especially of Dharamshala, it is best your avoid the destination temporarily. Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Response Force stated on Monday that Dharamshala recorded the highest rainfall in 64 years.
Dharamshala Receives Record-Breaking Rainfall
Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Response Force, in a tweet, informed that Dharamshala recorded very high rainfall and went on to break record. In the past 64 years, Dharamshala did not receive as much rainfall as it did this year. The body tweeted, ‘Himachal Pradesh’s tourist city Dharamshala has broken the record of heavy rains in 64 years. During the 12 hours from 9:00 pm on Friday to 9:00 am on Saturday, 333 mm of rain was recorded in Dharamsala. Earlier on 6 August 1958, 316 mm of rain had fallen during 24 hours.’

Yellow Alert In Himachal Pradesh
The state authorities in Himachal Pradesh have issued a yellow alert till tomorrow. Therefore, it will be best to visit the state after going through the weather reports. An advisory for the tourists and travellers has also been issued, keeping in consideration their safety. The tourist advisory by the authorities reads, ‘Tourists who are already in the State are advised not to go near the rivers and hill sides and in case of any emergency they may contact Tourist Information Centres.’
Keeping the above in mind, it is best you postpone your plans to visit Dharamshala for the time being.
