Pune’s metro’s pillars were found to have been defaced with advertisements and other items. The authorities in the past have several times issued warnings against the same but the offenders did not pay any heed to it. They had also put up billboards which pushed the authority to take actions. Looking at the situation now, The local police have been urged by the Pune Metro Rail Corporation to file complaints against persons responsible for defacing metro pillars.
Pune Metro Urged Police To File Case
Within months of being inaugurated, the pillars of Pune’s Metro have been continuously defaced even after several warnings. Pune Metro officials have also requested that the municipal police and the civic authority protect Metro property and aid in maintaining the network’s cleanliness. The elevated pillars of the metro are the ones where most of the advertisements and publicity materials are put up. Managing director of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha-Metro), Brijesh Dixit said that they have asked the local police to keep a watch on such offenders and then file a case against them.

Pune Metro’s Policy Decision
Managing director of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha-Metro), Brijesh Dixit said that the Pune metro had made this policy decision that there will be no advertisements stuck on the pillars. There are some metros in India that openly allow advertisements on their pillar but not the Pune one. He said that the citizens should help them in keeping up with the policy decision. There were boards and posters of advertisements on metro properties just after some days of the inauguration. The local residents saw it and wrote to Pune Municipal Commission and Brijesh Dixit and asked them to come up with measures to curb it. The Pune metro currently has two routes that run from Pimpri to Phugewadi and from Vanaz to Garware College, passing via Kothrud.
