Just like this elderly man from Bongaon in West Bengal. While cutting some yams in his garden, he unearthed a massive 8kg jackfruit that was red in colour! This underground jackfruit discovery has made him a local celebrity and people are visiting him to see this rare jackfruit in person.
West Bengal Man Finds Reddish, Fully Grown Underground Jackfruit
Haradhan Ghosh from Chapaberia, Bangaon in West Bengal has a huge garden area within his residential compound. The garden is quite lush and various fruits and vegetables are cultivated there. Recently, while cutting some yams in the garden, Haradhan found a rare variety of jackfruit there. The jackfruit was rare since it was found underground and not on a tree!
According to a News18 report, Haradhan’s garden has yam, papaya, mango, and jackfruit trees. Now, due to the ongoing monsoon season, the garden almost resembles a jungle. Recently, while digging out the yams, the elderly man saw a reddish object. Unsure of what it was, he carefully unearthed it and was astonished to find that it was actually a massive jackfruit! The fruit, reportedly, weighs about 8.2 kilograms.
Locals Amazed To See The Rare Jackfruit
The discovery of this rare jackfruit has made Haradhan a local celebrity! People have been visiting him to see the rare jackfruit that actually grew underground. As per News18, people in the area were used to seeing jackfruit grow on trees, as most of us, but seeing an underground one was a real surprise for them! They believe that this rare jackfruit grew from the roots of a tree below the surface. However, the cause of its reddish hue could not be understood by them. For now, people are gathering to catch a glimpse of this rare jackfruit.
