If you’re from Kolkata, you might already be familiar with Salt Lake— a quiet, planned urban settlement divided into sectors and blocks.  The funny thing is sometimes even Kolkatans lose their way in this urban maze with identical roundabouts and houses. But when it comes to looking for cafes in Salt Lake, Kolkatans are quite proactive and also want to make their way to the urban township to soak in the best that it has to offer.

A Slice Of History

In the 1960s, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal, and his team of engineers thought of converting a natural saltwater lake to a vast stretch of land. And guess what? Their dream came true. Currently, Salt Lake has about 2 lakh residents.

And things are constantly jazzing up for this little town/suburb. Take a ride through the city and you will see almost every block now has pretty little cafes, with glass windows and warm lights. And, today, we are taking you virtually around the best cafes in our humble opinion!
