A Slice Of History

In the 1960s, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal, and his team of engineers thought of converting a natural saltwater lake to a vast stretch of land. And guess what? Their dream came true. Currently, Salt Lake has about 2 lakh residents.

Located opposite Calcutta 64, this cafe is a newly opened branch of Calcutta Bakery Cafe, Baghajatin. The white-painted walls with a vibrant yellow sign board will surely catch your eyes if you walk by. Do try their Brownie Blended Cold Coffee and Fish Florentine.

5. Kafee Am Salzsee

Located in a corner plot by the main road, it is very easy to spot. The interior is a beautiful blend of the contemporary with the medieval. They serve a variety of continental dishes. If you want to try Central European cuisine, this cafe is for you. The cherry on top? The cafe also has occasional live music performances.

Staying true to its name, the cafe uses chairs and tables made out of colourful canisters. They serve Chinese, Italian, fast food and beverages. Once you visit do try their Egg Wrap Hathi Kabab; it’s unique and fun. Plus, they also have an open seating area on the rooftop. If you love to sit under the bright blue sky and read your favourite book while gorging on some delicious food, you know where to go.
