BMC Squads To Monitor Mumbai Diwali Celebrations & Take Actions Against Those Flouting Rules

There is undoubtedly a drop in the COVID-19 cases in Mumbai. However, the government is still ensuring that strict measures are taken to prevent a second wave of the virus. While cracking of firecrackers and gathering of the crowd have been banned this Diwali, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is deploying squads to monitor the violations against COVID-19 protocols. The civic body will take strict actions against those using firecrackers before and on the day of Diwali.

BMC Will Monitor Areas For Air Pollution

The BMC will also monitor areas where air pollution is on the rise and send the squads to check the source of the poor air quality index. Crowded Places Will Have Police Patrols

While people can burn firecrackers in residential areas and housing complexes, only two variants of crackers like the sparklers and flower pots will be allowed. Further, the BMC squads will strictly monitor places where there is a possibility of a large gathering. Heavy Fines Imposed On Those Violating Rules

Mumbai Police and civic body authorities are joining hands to patrol across the city. There will be hefty fines against firecracker-related violations. The government is also looking at cracking down the illegal sale of firecrackers in the market.
