Watch the video linked below to learn what all they discussed.
Vikas Khanna Thinks Shabana Azmi Is Bollywood’s Most Instagrammable Actress
Kamiya was curious to know how Shabana was cast in the lead role in Imaginary Rain by Vikas despite having the option of casting one of the many mainstream actresses. He replied, “Shabana ji is more Instagrammable than anyone (in Bollywood)…and I would like to know who could be more mainstream than Shabana Azmi ji!”
He was extremely firm on his decision to cast her and we completely understand you, Chef. What he said next is a complete mic drop moment and you better be ready for it. He continued, “Shabana ji is not a part of the film industry, she is the industry.” That’s so correct!

One of the most challenging things Vikas had to do after casting Shabana was teaching her to cook from scratch. Vikas revealed to us that she was quite adamant about cooking for real in front of the camera. Looks like she wanted to be a real chef before becoming a reel one.
Vikas was on board with this decision as it would make the scenes feel more real. But because she didn’t know how to cook, this was quite challenging to do. Our guest said to us that she was completely oblivious to cooking and didn’t even know what the purpose of a peeler knife was.
So, he had to teach her everything about cooking right from scratch. Thanks to his tutelage, Shabana was whipping up bread, naans, dal and more in Imaginary Rain.
